Aradia Horn Earrings

These are Aradia Troll Horn Earrings, made out of polymer clay. They are studs, slightly heavy, but still awesome. When I put them on, I decided to put on my new octopus ear cuff I bought in Harajuku yesterday as a shout out to the Horrorterrors. I hope to make more horn earrings because these turned out amazing. My goal was to make it look like the horn was actually sticking out, which is why I paid four hundred yen in a little local Japanese craft store for the bare studs. They are nice though, because the pin part and back are hard plastic rather than metal.

I have learned that Japan is different than America because ear piercing is not as common. Because in America, Claire's employees are allowed to get trigger happy with a piercing gun on children, but in Japan there are laws in place that affect ear piercing. Here, Ear cuffs and clip-ons and magnetic studs are extremely common. Claire's is always full of them here rather than regular stud and hook earrings. However, stores in Japan also offer self-piercing kits for people who really want to pierce their ears, which is kind of scary that you can easily purchase one in Claire's. That's not to say stores that sell regular earrings can't be found, I found a store with walls covered in earrings yesterday, but ear piercings are less common for a number of reasons. This benefits me though because I love ear cuffs. But I probably won't be getting second holes in my ears for a while, bummer.
